Let's make friends for life!

Thank you for thinking adoption! All animals are spayed/neutered, given age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and examined by a veterinarian. We welcome adopters who rent or live in apartments/condos, however it is advised to review pet policies prior to adopting. We look forward to your visit!
Note: Our animals have been finding homes quicker than ever, so if you are traveling from afar or are limited on time, you are welcome to call either location and inquire on the status of an animal you are interested in prior to visiting. We also limit transporting animals to/from our other locations. Thank you for your understanding!

   SEEKING MEDICAL FOSTER

Looking to help tend to our dogs in need of medical care? Consider fostering! Dogs listed here need medical fosters to allow time to clear a medical hurdle they’ve encountered. Foster periods for medical reasons may vary. If you’re interested in being a medical foster, please email our Dog Department Manager Michelle at miorii@delawarehumane.org. Thank you!

   SEEKING BREAKAWAY BUDDY

Looking to help our dogs in an incredibly special way? Consider being a Breakaway Buddy! Dogs listed here are looking to get a break from shelter life. Fostering gives them a chance to decompress, open up, and show us how they are in a home environment. Breakaway Buddies typically last 2 weeks, but can absolutely last longer. If you are interested in being a Breakaway Buddy, please email our Animal Marketing Manager Steph at sgomez@delawarehumane.org!

   SEEKING FOSTER-TO-ADOPT

Looking to adopt the most needy of them all? Consider adopting a dog that would benefit from being fostered with you first! Dogs listed here are looking for fosters who have the intention to adopt. These are the dogs that may need extra help integrating into your home. They are often very nervous or afraid, thus needing the most vigilant care and love. If you’re interested in any of the dogs listed below, please email our Dog Department Manager Michelle at miorii@delawarehumane.org. Thank you!
