Delaware Humane Association’s Longest Resident of 2019 Finds a Home

After a Year at the Shelter, Bolio Receives the Life he Deserves

WILMINGTON, DE, December 20, 2019 – Heroes exist in so many different forms. But the heroes that Delaware Humane Association sees every day are the ones that say “yes” to making a difference in the lives of over 2,000 four-legged friends in 2019 alone.

In October of 2018, a dog named “Bolio” was rescued by Delaware Humane Association from an inadequate situation in Texas. Bolio was one of the most under-socialized dogs the shelter had seen, due to the fact that he came from a hoarding situation with over 60 other dogs. Because he was so incredibly nervous of humans, one of DHA’s staff members was committed to bringing out the best in him by fostering Bolio. After plenty of love, care, and training, he peeled back his layers of fear, becoming one of the most playful dogs ever.

Because of the care DHA and their staff were able to provide, not even a month after his one-year anniversary of coming to the shelter, Bolio experienced his luckiest day. A couple came to visit DHA seeking a dog to add to their family. Immediately, they fell for Bolio, his story grabbing their hearts. They excitedly adopted him right away, giving him the life and family that he had deserved for so long.

It’s because of people like Bolio’s new parents that DHA is able to continue to achieve their mission of “making friends for life.” Although Bolio is now receiving all of the attention he needs, there are still many more animals in need of a second chance. Through December 31, Delaware Humane Association will double all donations up to $50,000, thanks to the generosity of friends of DHA. This holiday season, give toward making a difference in the lives of animals. Visit https://delawarehumane.org/december/ to learn more about DHA’s matching campaign and to give today.
