Help pets find loving, forever homes! On Saturday, August 18, join NBC 10 Philadelphia and Telemundo 62 and help “Clear the Shelters!” All day, adoption fees will be waived or reduced.
For the past few years, animal shelters across the country came together and nearly 20,000+ pets found loving new families each year. “Clear the Shelters” is a nationwide pet adoption initiative that aims to connect animals in need with new homes.
If you are looking to adopt on this day in particular, PLEASE review our adoption process in advance: delawarehumane.org/adoptionprocess. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm & FeLV/FIV tested, microchipped, and examined by a veterinarian. Please bring in proof of home ownership or written permission from your landlord, and veterinary care records of current pets, if applicable. All principal family members should be present at the time of adoption.
For those looking to add an additional canine to their “pack”, applications must be approved prior to doing an official dog meeting. You are welcome to bring your dog(s), however we ask that you have an addition person with you to keep your pet company in your running vehicle to ensure their safety while you visit with our adoptable dogs. If this is not possible and you are approved, be prepared to return home for your resident dog to do a proper dog meeting at DHA.
NOTE: While we do have a store with leashes, collars, carriers, etc at our facility, toward the middle to end of the day we may run low on items. If you are not looking to purchase at our store, please remember to bring a leash and collar for a dog (potentially a harness if you’re thinking of a bigger dog) or a cat carrier for cats! We do not have enough donated items to send everyone home with these necessities.
