License Requirements

Delaware residents must purchase a dog license if interested in adopting a dog. Out-of-state adopters will need to purchase a license separately, if required.

Ages 65 and older, who own dogs, will be offered a reduced rate for dogs that were spayed or neutered (discount does not apply to unaltered dogs).  Proof of age is required. The rate is $7 annually, a $3 reduction on the regular price of $10 for spayed or neutered dogs. Licenses for unaltered dogs remain $15 per year for all applicants. Please be aware that there is a $3 additional fee for processing each license.

Where to Buy

State of Delaware dog licenses are available online and by mail through the PetData website. Licenses can be purchased in person at DHA’s Vaccination Clinics, at our animal care and adoption center in the Riverfront area of Wilmington, and several other locations.
